Lapsed registration fees apply one month after the expiration date. For a lapsed registration when the intended registrant was engaged in the business of manufacturing, exporting or brokering defense articles or defense services, the intended registrant must pay back fees. Otherwise, a written Lapsed Registration Certification must be provided which certifies the company has not been in the business of manufacturing, exporting, or brokering defense articles or defense services during the lapsed period. The certification must be submitted on company letterhead, signed by a senior officer listed in Block 7 of the DS-2032.
Registrants who receive a renewal registration letter and allow their registration to lapse must include the fee specified in the renewal letter in addition to any lapse fees, as calculated below.
Registration Fee Table
| Timeframe | Annual Cost | Prorated Cost Per Month |
| Prior to January 1997 | $250.00 | $20.83 |
| January 1997 to December 2004 | $600.00 | $50.00 |
| December 2004 to September 2008 | $1,750.00 | $145.00 |
| October 2008 to Present | $2,250.00 | $187.50 |
Example

| Duration | Amount | Explanation |
| January 2004 through December 2004 | $600.00 | |
| January 2005 through December 2005 | $1,750.00 | |
| January 2006 through December 2006 | $1,750.00 | |
| January 2007 through December 2007 | $1,750.00 | |
| January 2008 through September 2008 | $1,305.00 | 9 months x $145 prorated monthly cost of $1,750.00 |
| October 2008 through February 2010 | $3,187.00 | 17 months x $187.50 prorated monthly cost of $2,250.00 |
| $10,342.50 | Subtotal (Total Lapsed fee due) | |
| March 2010 through March 2011 | $2,250.00 | Tier One Renewal fee |
| $12,592.50 | Grand total (Lapsed fee plus annual registration fee) |
